“Edifice Complex: a keen desire of a public or educational administrator to construct a building or buildings.” I’m still talking about the proposed Supercomplex. See Part I of this piece here. Today I interview Moises Gonzales, assistant professor of Community and Regional Planning and former Loeb Fellow at Harvard who talks about why this move would be in exact opposition to of trends in urban planning in the last decade, in which cities have focused on revitalizing downtowns. And on the subject of the selection of the (currently vacant and undeveloped) Las Soleras site for the project during the Richardson administration, Marc Bertram, landlord to the city and owner of a competing site for the project, talks about irregularities in the site selection process. Finally, Chuck Gara, head of the Property Control Division under Governor Martinez, talks about the full plate his department has been handed and what has been going on since Governor Martinez took office. And Jim Atwood has a New Mexico Minute about our dismal Medicaid fraud recovery statistics.
