In this weeks show, I talk to legislator/poet Bill O’Neill — nicknamed the Sagebrush Lizard by republicans at the Roundhouse. Bill is a centrist democrat who used to live in a republican district. He and Martinez both won there in 2010. But then came his vote on the Governor’s drivers’ license bill and he became doomed and had to seek new habitat. Well, Bill found new habitat this week when he won his hotly contested primary for a heavily democratic seat in Senate district 13. Hear Bill and his poetry — read at Collected Works book store earlier this year — and find out who has the better couch — Richardson or Martinez. And Bill reads a poem about his respected and admired colleague Antonio Moe Maestas aka “Carlos.” And Jim Atwood has a New Mexico Minute about the downside of using private security for the railyard.
